It’s not too late for a film today is it?
Today’s Short Film is brought to you by Oren Shai and stars the quite capable Margaret Anne Florence. The 14 minute film comes “inspired by 1950s women-in-prison movies and the pulp fiction of that era.”
The film is stylistic on purpose with a distinct film noir quality about it that could either work against or for it, depending on your outlook. Personally, I haven’t seen many movies circa 1950s, so I’m not sure if the acting was a good mimicry of the films that inspired it, or if –on the part of the supporting actresses in particular– it wasn’t exactly as good as it could have been. The stellar direction, photography and storyline is what triumphantly makes this a success for me, and then of course, there’s Florence–she made me believe her, and that’s all I really need from an actor in a 14 minute film.
