Right now, dubstep is probably my favourite experimental genre. While I can appreciate noise pop in the right form (Sleigh Bells) and I can appreciate other experimental genres in doses, dubstep pretty much wins me over every time–so long as it’s done right.
It might be the exaggerated drum and base sounds that echo my favourite elements of Hip-Hop and electronica beats, or the dark and dissonant harmonies that are as evocative as the most engaging hook, but whatever it is, dubstep has the ability to move me like few other genre’s do.
Annoyingly enough, this mix has 9 songs instead of a decent amount like 10, or 8. All the same, it’s a fairly accessible selection of dubstep tracks to initiate those of you who may be unfamiliar with the genre. For easy digestion, most of them are remixes of songs you probably already know and like, the rest are just damn good.

P.S. There’s now a feature over —–> there in the sidebar that allows you to share music with me. Awesome, I know! So maybe you’re an up and coming Caribbean musician, or you heard something really cool somewhere and you’d like me to feature it here; all you have to do is click on the soundcloud drop box icon and I will auto-magically receive any goodies you leave inside and feature it here on the blog.
If you have anything else you’d like to share with me, you can send me an e-mail with a link. I promise that if I like it, I will get around to sharing it eventually (really, I will).
