Each photo was captured in Dakar, capital city of Senegal, by one of the most important German photographers, the late Sibylle Bergemann. Born in Berlin (1941), Bergemann started her photographic training at the age of 25 with German photographer, Arno Fischer. Throughout her active career, Bergemann contributed work to publications such as the New York Times Magazine, GEO, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel and Stern. Bergemann died in Berlin (2010), however her work continues to be part of new exhibitions internationally.
